About Us

Terry Johnson is the project director of this Fulbright-Hays Group Project Abroad. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in the social sciences and a grades 7-12 social studies teaching license at the College of Saint Benedict. Her Master of Arts and Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction, with a focus on social studies education, is from the University of Minnesota. She is the Director of the Social Science program at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University and teaches elementary, middle, and high school social studies pedagogy courses. She developed and taught the course “Education & Healing in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” and led a short-term study-abroad trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina in May 2015. Additionally, she traveled to Bosnia and Herzegovina for a faculty development trip in the spring of 2012. She can be contacted via email at t4johnson@csbsju.edu.

Kelly Rae Kraemer is the Assistant Director of this Fulbright-Hays Group Project Abroad. She earned an A.B. in peace studies and French from Washington University in St. Louis, an Ed.M. in general education from Harvard University, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in political science from the University of Hawai’i—Mānoa. She holds the rank of professor of peace Studies at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University and teaches courses on peace & conflict, nonviolent struggle, race & ethnic conflict, and gender & peace. She also teaches courses in the Honors Scholars program. She speaks fluent French, has a reading knowledge of Spanish, and some conversational knowledge of Hawaiian, Italian, and Croatian. She traveled to Bosnia and Herzegovina for a faculty development trip in the spring of 2012 and has managed to successfully reproduce her favorite Bosnian dish, zelyanitsa (spinach pie), in her own kitchen.
