Travel dates: June 7-July 3, 2023

Thank you for your interest in the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University's 2022-2023 Fulbright-Hays GPA Short Program. The overarching goal of our project is to develop collaboration among preservice world language and social studies teachers, licensed world languages and social studies teachers, and college faculty in order to create grades 8-12 curriculum projects that explore the intersection of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s languages, politics, history, educational systems, and culture.

Specifically, participants will:

  • Explore the intersection of languages, politics, history, educational systems, and culture through an immersive experience in Bosnia & Herzegovina (BiH).

  • Compare and contrast the teaching of languages and area studies as taught in BiH with the ways they are taught in U.S. high schools and colleges.

  • Create grades 8-12 curriculum projects that address the intersection of BiH's languages, politics, history, educational systems, and culture.

  • Create mutually beneficial partnerships that enhance the professional learning and teaching of preservice teachers, licensed 8-12 educators, and university faculty.

  • Disseminate information about or materials from the group project abroad through more than one outreach activity within six months of returning.
